You get Attack Up (S), Halve Stun and Gourmand right out of the box, but you also have Item Use Down.
If you're anxious to get better armor quickly, Jaggi is a good choice. When you unlock the Argosy Captain, be sure to check out what items he has, as I've gotten really good stuff like Power and Armorcharms from him. Upgrading the farm as soon as possible is in your best interest, as you will be able to duplicate more items and at the same time, such as Honey, Godbugs, Flashbugs, Blue Mushrooms, Dragon Toadstools, and more! Be sure to do hunts in the Moga Woods to get Resource Points, as these are needed to do requests, use the farm and send the fleet out for fish. Be sure to do all quests marked as "Canteen!" Eating is important because you can get Attack, Defense, Res, Health and Stamina boosts as well as meal skills that can help you on a quest. When you meet the Argosy Captain, you will also get a character called the Itinerant Cook. Things like requests to get new food at the Canteen, expanding the farm and getting masks for your Shakalakas can be done right here. One of the characters in Moga Village is the Chief's Son.
